Borehole drilling process

“Miche Onestop Heritage Farm has achieved a major infrastructure milestone: successful borehole drilling in Gatirima, Laikipia County. During drilling, water was struck at approximately 150 metres, confirming a reliable underground source to support the farm’s domestic needs and future irrigation. This progress positions the project for the next critical phase—installing a solar-powered pumping system, storage tanks, and distribution infrastructure—so the borehole can deliver consistent water for farming, livestock, and community impact.

After drilling and site preparation, the borehole has now been completed and safely sealed. The wellhead is capped and protected with a reinforced concrete apron, creating a clean, stable, and secure point for future connection. This step is critical for safeguarding water quality, preventing surface runoff from entering the borehole, and ensuring the installation is durable
